SBIR - Do You Qualify?

To be qualified to apply for SBIR funding, the following minimum qualifications must be met:

• Must be a small business that is not a subsidiary of a large company (over 500 employees).
• The business must be organized for profit (cannot be a non-profit organization).
• Must be at least 51% owned by U.S. citizens or U.S. resident aliens.
• The business must be located in the U.S.
• The principal investigator's (PI) primary employer must be the small business (for STTR the PI can be employed by a research institution that is partnering with the company).
• The company and/or PI must have creditable experience in working on leading-edge technologies that would be of interest to one of the eleven federal agencies publishing the solicitation.
