Georgia Companies Receive SBIR/STTR Awards

In 2006, Georgia companies received more than $16 million in federal research and development funding through the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program. Georgia’s non-profit research institutes also benefited from federal funding by partnering with small companies inside and outside the state to receive Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) funding. These funding resources have been used to develop innovative solutions for our federal government and commercial product lines for our companies.
By creating an awareness of the federal SBIR and STTR programs and coaching Georgia’s small businesses in the proposal process, the SBIR Assistance Program for the State of Georgia hopes to expand the amount of SBIR/STTR funding in coming into Georgia in 2007.
