Tim Israel Group Manager, Atlanta Metro
Timothy Israel is group manager for Lean Enterprise and Quality Services at Georgia Tech’s Enterprise Innovation Institute. He and his 15-person staff work with companies and organizations to reduce waste and improve manufacturing operations by implementing continuous improvement techniques, quality management systems, and lean manufacturing principles.
Mr. Israel is a RABQSA -certified Quality Systems Lead Auditor and Environmental Systems Lead Auditor. He has trained more than 5,000 individuals representing more than 500 companies on all aspects of lean, quality, ISO 9000, and ISO 14000. He holds master’s and bachelor’s degrees in industrial engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He has been an active member of the Georgia Oglethorpe Award Process, serving on the council and as an examiner in past years.

Larry Alford Region Manager, South Metro Atlanta Region
Larry Alford, based in Peachtree City, is manager of Georgia Tech’s South Metro Atlanta Region. His primary role is to connect companies to the resources of Georgia Tech and the Enterprise Innovation Institute. His areas of expertise include productivity improvement using Lean techniques and quality management. Prior to joining Georgia Tech in 1990, Mr. Alford worked for Owens Corning as an industrial engineer.
He earned a BSIE from Auburn University and holds an M.B.A. from Columbus State University.

David Apple Region Manager, Northwest Georgia
David Apple manages Georgia Tech’s Northwest Georgia Regional Office located in Cartersville. He conducts workshops and guides and assists companies with lean implementation through training and leading kaizen projects.
Prior to coming to Georgia Tech, Mr. Apple gained some 20 years of experience with the William Bonnell Company, Cummins Engine Company, and OMC in engineering, operations, and quality. He has led dozens of kaizen events and improvement projects, including value stream mapping, set-up reduction, 5S, cellular manufacturing, capital equipment purchases, new plant start-ups, and relocations. Mr. Apple was a key player in the development and implementation of the first team-based work systems at Cummins. He has an M.B.A. from Georgia State University and a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the Georgia Tech.

Alan Barfoot Region Manager, Central Georgia
Alan Barfoot is manager of the Georgia Tech Central Region headquartered in Dublin and a leader for the Lean Enterprise Services Center. He has expertise in manufacturing control systems such as production and inventory control, costing, capacity analysis, JIT, manufacturing management, and plant layout. Prior to his work at Georgia Tech, Mr. Barfoot worked at Scientific Atlanta and led the conversion of large-batch process to lean manufacturing.
Mr. Barfoot holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Georgia Tech and an MBA from the University of South Carolina.

Danny Duggar Project Manager, Central Georgia
Danny Duggar is a project manager with the Georgia Tech Enterprise Innovation Institute Lean Services group, a position in which he has worked with companies to conduct on-site training and implementation of lean manufacturing principles to improve their process flow, facility layout, and productivity.
Prior to joining Georgia Tech, Mr. Duggar was employed for 25 years in the industrial sector with assignments as vice president of manufacturing, director of engineering, and plant engineering. He also owned and operated his own business. This employment history has allowed Mr. Duggar to gain experience and skills in engineering, manufacturing, and environmental fields.
Mr. Duggar holds a bachelor of electrical engineering technology degree from Southern Poly Tech.

John Stephens Project Manager, South Georgia
John Stephens is a project manager for the Lean Enterprise group and works from Georgia Tech’s Regional Office in Dublin, helping companies to implement lean manufacturing practices.
Prior to his work at Georgia Tech, Mr. Stephens gained more than 30 years of manufacturing experience working in diverse industries, including consumer electronics, automotive supply, thermostatic controls, domestic appliances, hand tools, and lawn/garden products. Originally from England, where he gained his B.S. in electronics, Mr. Stephens has an M.B.A. from the University of South Carolina. Paul Todd Project Manager, Central Georgia
Paul J. Todd is a project manager for Georgia Tech’s region office in Macon. His work with companies in Georgia focuses mainly on lean manufacturing. In addition, he acts as a liaison to the larger Georgia Tech community for organizations in middle Georgia. Prior to joining the Enterprise Innovation Institute in 2000, Mr. Todd spent 13 years in the textile and apparel industry, holding various manufacturing, industrial engineering, and materials management positions. He worked for three years in Western Europe, with additional project assignments in Central America.
His lean manufacturing training is primarily from on-site implementation projects with North Carolina State University and leadership training at the Toyota Supplier Support Center. Mr. Todd has a B.S. degree in industrial management from Georgia Tech.

Derek Woodham Region Manager, West Georgia
Derek Woodham manages Georgia Tech’s West Georgia service delivery region. He is responsible for connecting businesses, manufacturers, and communities to Georgia Tech’s wealth of innovation and technology services, which is designed to elevate their competitive position and economic impact.
Mr. Woodham spent seven years with the highly regarded lean organization, Freudenberg-NOK, and has facilitated, led, or participated in over 70 kaizen events in such industries as automotive, U.S. military, aerospace, medical, electronics, heavy equipment, printing, and packaging, as well as rubber and plastics. He spent over three years as a corporate project manager in the high-end printing and packaging industry. A National Shingo Prize examiner, he holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Georgia Tech and an M.B.A. from LaGrange College.
