Chris Clark is the Deputy Commissioner for Global Commerce at the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD), the marketing arm of the state of Georgia. He oversees the division that helps existing industries grow and expand; develop and recruit new businesses to Georgia; and increase Georgia's trade around the world. His responsibilities also include the Governor's Entrepreneur and Small Business Office and the state's Innovation and Technology Office, as well as nine offices around the state and 10 offices around the world.
Mr. Clark also chairs the Georgia Entrepreneur and Small Business Network, a multi-state agency organization established in 2004 by the executive order of Governor Sonny Perdue. Additionally, he is on the board of directors for the Georgia Foreign Trade Zone and is an advisory board member for the University of Georgia's Small Business Development Center and its College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences. Mr. Clark was a graduate of Georgia's first Executive Leadership program and serves as a member of the Georgia Economic Developers Associations (GEDA) Board of Directors.
Mr. Clark joined GDEcD in 2003 as Deputy Commissioner for Public Affairs and Policy. Prior positions include President & CEO of the Fayette County Development Authority in metro Atlanta, and President & CEO of the Hawkinsville-Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce and Development Association. Mr. Clark received his Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) accreditation in 2002.
A native of Fitzgerald, Ga., Mr. Clark graduated with a bachelor's degree from Georgia Southern University and holds an M.A. in Public Administration from Georgia College and State University. Mr. Clark, his wife Tiffany and son Christian reside near Peachtree City in Fayette County, Ga.
