Joy C. Hawkins has served as vice president of regional education for the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce since September 2005.  Immediately prior to this position, she was a policy advisor and deputy chief operating officer for Governor Sonny Perdue.  Ms. Hawkins also worked as a researcher and legislative aide in the state Senate. Her current activities include serving as the governor’s appointed member to the Georgia Commission on Child Support and to the Career and Technical Education Advisory Commission.  In addition, she serves as a “business representative” of the Georgia Department of Education’s CRCT Task Force, Graduation Rule Task Force and the Implementation Team of the Alliance of Education Agency Heads.  Ms. Hawkins holds an undergraduate degree from Georgia State University and a law degree from the Georgia State College of Law.
