ATLANTA — The Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC), Georgia’s premier technology incubator, marked 2024 with record-breaking growth and expanded statewide influence. The incubator, a program of Georgia Tech’s Enterprise Innovation Institute, welcomed 34 new startups into its portfolio, bringing its active membership to 141 companies and supporting the creation of more than 14,100 jobs across Georgia. ATDC portfolio companies raised more than $216 million in capital and generated $203 million in revenue in 2024 alone. This performance stands out in a national venture capital landscape that, while rebounding, remained highly selective — with U.S. VC funding rising 34.6% to $148.8 billion despite a 28% drop in deal volume.
Comparatively, ATDC’s results underscore the strength of its model in helping early-stage companies secure funding in a competitive environment. Since its founding in 1980, ATDC-affiliated companies have raised a cumulative $6.2 billion, positioning the incubator among the top university-led programs in the nation.
“Georgia-grown innovation is transforming industries, and ATDC is proud to be a catalyst at the heart of it,” said ATDC Director John Avery. “We’re scaling our support systems to meet founders where they are — with smarter tools, deeper coaching, and expanded access to opportunity.”
Innovation in Motion
In 2024, ATDC launched a hybrid startup curriculum and an AI-powered Venture Match platform to accelerate founder success. The incubator’s statewide footprint includes seven cities across Georgia: Albany, Athens, Augusta, Columbus, Macon, and Savannah — bringing coaching and resources directly to local entrepreneurs.
ATDC’s vertical practice areas, supported by strategic corporate partnerships, continue to drive sector-specific innovation in HealthTech, Robotics, FinTech, Sustainability, Cybersecurity, and Supply Chain. Notable portfolio companies include:
- Slip Robotics, which raised a Series B round and reached an $83M valuation
- Strados Labs, developer of FDA-cleared wearable respiratory biosensors
- Cloverly, a leader in carbon credit infrastructure
- Benepower, an AI-driven platform transforming employer-sponsored healthcare
- Green Badger, a Savannah-based SaaS firm streamlining green building compliance
Looking Ahead
ATDC’s strategic vision for the future includes:
- More data-driven coaching and systematic assessment tools
- Advanced platforms to connect startups with corporate pilots and top-tier talent
- Expanded operational support in sales, marketing, tech optimization, and recruiting
With more than 160 active companies in mid-2025 — already surpassing half of its total alumni graduates since 1980 — ATDC is meeting surging demand and reaffirming its mission to be the best place in Georgia to build a technology business.
