ATHENS, Georgia — GT APEX Accelerator, a resource for small businesses seeking to navigate the world of government contracting, is proud to announce the opening of its new office in Athens, Georgia. The opening of the Athen’s office, GT APEX Accelerator’s ninth site in the state, reflects the program’s ongoing commitment to empowering local entrepreneurs, small businesses, and contractors with the tools and guidance needed to succeed in federal, state, and local procurement. GT APEX Accelerator operates out of Georgia Tech’s Enterprise Innovation Institute.
The new office, located at RUNWAY COWORK BEECHWOOD, 196 Alps Road, Suite 70, Office B11, Athens, GA 30606, will serve as a regional hub for outreach, training, and personalized assistance. It will provide easier access to services such as bid matching, proposal review, certification guidance, and one-on-one counseling for businesses in Northeast Georgia.
“We’re thrilled to open our doors in Athens,” said Nancy Cleveland, program manager of GT APEX Accelerator. “This new location allows us to be closer to the vibrant community of small businesses and innovators who are ready to grow through government contracting opportunities.”

The Athens Center will serve businesses across 16 Georgia counties: Franklin, Hart, Madison, Elbert, Clarke, Oglethorpe, Oconee, Walton, Newton, Morgan, Greene, Jasper, Putnam, Hancock, and Baldwin. Leading the center is Susan Johnson, an experienced government contracting counselor. Johnson brings a strong background in small business development, procurement assistance, and community engagement. Her expertise in helping entrepreneurs navigate the complexities of federal, state, and local contracting makes her a valuable resource for businesses seeking to grow through government opportunities.
