Advancing Sustainable Development Through Applied Innovation

The Enterprise Innovation Institute is Georgia Tech’s engine for expanding economic opportunity and strengthening communities through technology, research, and practical innovation. Our programs help entrepreneurs launch new ventures, assist industry in adopting advanced technologies, and support public and private partners in creating resilient, inclusive strategies for growth. By connecting world-class expertise with real-world challenges, EI² advances solutions that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals—bringing innovation, equity, and economic vitality to communities across Georgia and beyond.

Through our programs, the Enterprise Innovation Institute helps communities, businesses, and entrepreneurs build durable economic opportunity. Our efforts support job creation, new firm formation, community-led growth strategies, and ecosystem building.

EI² supports innovators and communities working in agriculture, logistics, and advanced manufacturing to strengthen regional food systems and networks. Our entrepreneurship and economic development programs such as the Georgia Tech Food and Beverage Accelerator help bring new foods to market, while our Georgia Manufacturing Extension Partnership’s training and consultancy offerings help to improve processing, operational efficiencies, bring new solutions to clients, and improve supply chain resiliency.
Our Safety, Health, and Environmental Services program advances worker well-being through high-quality safety training that reduces injuries and promotes a culture of prevention.
EI² extends the Institute’s educational mission into communities and workplaces by providing practical, innovation-focused learning opportunities. Programs such as the University Center, Safety, Health, and Environmental Services, and the Center for Economic Development Research equip entrepreneurs, professionals, and public leaders with skills and knowledge to compete and strategically make the right decisions in a technology-driven economy.
EI²’s programs connect research, industry, and communities to build innovation capacity. Our community and firm-based programs help clients adopt advanced technologies, strengthen supply chains, and inform infrastructure investments.
EI² helps communities plan for sustainable, inclusive growth by providing data-driven analysis, planning, and innovation support. The Center for Economic Development Research and the Partnership for Inclusive Innovation work with local leaders on strategies that connect economic development, mobility, housing, and quality of life.
EI² does not lead marine research, but our programs, such as the Partnership for Inclusive Innovation, contributes to this goal by supporting innovation and planning that protect water resources and coastal economies. Our other economic development programs, such as EI2 Global and the Georgia Manufacturing Extension Partnership, assist partners working on disaster preparation and resiliency.
EI² advances Goal 15 by helping communities and businesses adopt strategies that align land use, infrastructure, and economic growth with environmental stewardship. Through CEDR, the Partnership for Inclusive Innovation, and EI²’s innovation-led programming, partners use data and new technologies to support sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems.
Our programmatic methodology strengthens the capacity of public agencies and community organizations to make transparent, evidence-based decisions. The University Center, CEDR, and the Partnership for Inclusive Innovation provide analysis, tools, and collaboration models that support more inclusive, accountable institutions.
Partnership is central to our work and mission. Our programs including Georgia AIM and the Partnership for Inclusive Innovation bring together government, industry, nonprofits, and researchers to design and scale sustainable solutions.
